Makers Academy #00

[edit] Posting about coding and learning at MA here: InitAddCommit.
I realised it was better to keep illustrations and code separated :P! [/edit]

Earlier this year I decided to spice up my work life and go back to what first brought me into the creative field: web design!

Except this time I decided to actually learn the code part of it, to do all the cool tech-y stuff and confuse my friends when I try to explain my job to them.

After successfully (?) brushing up my HTML & CSS knowledge (... mostly with youtube tutorials in spanish, but they count and it's two birds with one stone, ok), I spent 2013... trying to understand how people manage to study regularly, because apparently I can't and that's the key to success when you want to learn a new language, be it a proper language or a coding one!

I realised I just couldn't learn Javascript by myself, so I ended up looking for a course and I stumbled upon this Makers Academy thing.

The course promised a lot more than I was looking for... which wasn't necessarily a bad thing (I wanted to learn these stuff f o r e v e r ), but was I ready to invest time and money (many many money) into this thing?

Well I was, as an interview later confirmed... and I tell you, best interview for anything ever! If only recruiters would play logic games all the time, I'd be an astronaut by now.

I joined the February cohort and we started on Monday! The guys at MA encouraged us to blog and I thought it'd be a good excuse to start using this good old blog again. Stay tuned to find out if I'll be one of the students crying out of desperation!

PS: we got a complimentary Moleskine, so you get my random sketches as well
